Who we are
Our purpose is to help organisations make sense of a world in flux. Through clear analysis, practical solutions and strategic advice, we translate research into action for organisations navigating geopolitical change and complex transitions.
Making sense of a world in flux
We believe research should help change the world for the better. It should inform progressive action and remain accountable to the people and places it affects.
Fieldwork supports campaigners, policymakers, public institutions, businesses and governments navigating geopolitical change and complex transitions. Owned collectively by the people who power our work, with profits reinvested, we’re structured to put mission and impact first.
We bring together leading experts in political economy, climate policy and development to deliver clear analysis and practical solutions under real‑world constraints.

We offer academic-grade research that goes beyond the superficial (and the hallucinated). Our research is rigorous, sourced and built to withstand scrutiny.
Strategy
We provide independent, data-driven insight on where power lies, how incentives are structured and where the real decision points lie: not just in theory, but in our partners’ specific operating contexts.
Advocacy
We provide independent, data-driven insight on where power lies, how incentives are structured and where the real decision points lie: not just in theory, but in our partners’ specific operating contexts.

We offer strategic advice on how to navigate challenges and influence outcomes.

Freddie Daley
Co-Founder
Freddie co-founded Fieldwork with Charlie to bring political economy to the forefront of climate policy and advocacy. A researcher and campaigner by instinct, he works across climate policy, energy transitions, and the unexpected places where climate breakdown shows up - from global summits to grassroots football clubs. His work has appeared in leading journals including Global Environmental Politics, Environmental Politics, and Energy Research & Social Science, and he co-authored Changing Our Ways: Behaviour Change and the Climate Crisis. When he's not thinking about fossil fuel phase-outs and climate governance, he's trying to keep up with his young daughter.
